NEW ULM, MN (September 17, 2008) – What goes better with local wine than local cheese? Say Cheese! Savor the Wine is a wine and cheese tasting experience brought to you by Morgan Creek Vineyards and the St. Peter Food
Co-op in part of the 10th Annual Great Grape Stomp on Saturday, October 4, 2008.
Say Cheese! Savor the Wine was conceptualized in 2007 by Adam Marti, Morgan Creek Vineyard assistant wine maker and educator, and developed in 2008 to mark and celebrate the milestone of Morgan Creek Vineyards’ 10th Anniversary. Adam Marti consulted with Minnesota cheese producers and distributors to help develop this event. The end result led to a partnership with the St. Peter Food Co-op and expertise of local cheese maker and connoisseur, Jim Vonderharr.
During the planning session Marti commented, This partnership allows us to help bring local producers to a new and exciting shared market. The pairing of cheese and wine is a classic and ancient experience whereby artisan foods reflect the local cultural. ‘Say Cheese! Savor the Wine’ is a fun opportunity to share our common mission of providing quality, local products to the people of our region.
This partnership provides the opportunity to showcase Morgan Creek Vineyards' wines while highlighting cheeses produced in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This fresh addition to Morgan Creek Vineyards’ Annual Great Grape Stomp is a taste experience that fosters food and wine entertainment and education. Attendees will walk away from the affair with a better understanding of wine, cheese, and the art of pairing the two. “We are thrilled and honored that Morgan Creek Vineyards has asked us to participate in this inaugural event that promotes food, fun, and education,” said Jennifer Luhmann, Brand Development Manager of the St. Peter Food Co-op. Say Cheese! Savor the Wine will culminate with a People’s Choice Award and trophy for the winning cheese producer, all of which will be asked to join in the harvest celebration.

The Say Cheese! Savor the Wine experience will be held twice on Saturday, October 4th, with one session at 1:30 p.m. and another at 3:30 p.m. Cost for this special event is $20.00 and includes gate admission, a wine tent tasting pass, Say Cheese! Savor the Wine tasting experience, a souvenir wine glass, and an opportunity to vote in the People’s Choice Awards. Only a limited number of tickets are available for this unrivaled experience and can be purchased at either Morgan Creek Vineyards or the St. Peter Food Co-op.
The day will conclude with Jazz Nite in the winery café with the “2008 Harvest Selection” which will feature the People’s Choice Pairing from the Say Cheese! Savor the Wine event.
