Colure
Morgan Creek Vineyards' Colure, a 2012 award winner in the International Cold Climate Wine Competition, is made from the Marquette grape developed by the University of Minnesota.
This robust varietal is rich in berry flavors with hints of cedar, leather, and a touch of spice. The Marquette grape is related to the Pinot Noir varietal. The cross breading was done at the Horticultural Research Center in Victoria, MN. The wine produced by this grape is complex, moderate ruby color with pronounced tannins.
The Marquette grape represents a new standard in cold hardy viticulture and enology.
